All our staff are appropriately trained before they start working with us. Our comprehensive induction training which is regularly updated to all the latest standards means that we are confident in the competence of all of our staff. Staff are regularly supervised, trained and appraised and their work is routinely audited.

We make sure that our care and support is of the highest quality. We have a robust quality assurance framework which enables us to maintain a high quality of service delivery which is monitored regularly.

Recruitment

What are the Recruitment Procedures?

When you contact us we will take your contact details and send you an application form. We will arrange for a personal interview within 10 working days. If successful we will call you for a second interview where we will apply for a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check and further checks to ensure the candidate complies with all relevant employment regulations such as the Asylum and Immigration Act and Working Time Directive. You will then commence our Induction Programme based on TOPSS England (Skills for Care) directive, which includes a manual handling course FREE. You will shadow a colleague working before you can go out to a client on your own.

What is 24hr Live-in Care?

Live in care is rewarding and valuable work. You will live with your client in their own home, making sure they are clean and warm, safe, comfortable, well-fed and happy. You will stay for a week at a time, Weekday only work may be arranged as well as Weekend work only.

You will work as a cook, housekeeper, companion as well as giving personal care when needed. Some positions require you to be a driver.

What about the Salary?

We have competitive rates starting from £350 per 7 day week.

What about being Self Employed?

Some clients want to pay you directly, you pay your own income tax and NI contributions.

What about Age?

You need to be over 18years.

What sort of hours would I be working?

As a general rule our Care /Support Workers work for 6/8 hours in a 24 hour period and will then have a 2 hour break when they are free to have time to themselves. For the remainder of the 24 hours they are expected to be in the client's home for emergencies but not actually on duty.

What do you expect from your carers?

Our aim is to provide Care/Support Workers whose experience and qualifications match our clients needs. They are expected to assist clients in numerous duties. These may include:

  • assisting with aspects of personal care
  • assisting with mobility needs and encouraging independence
  • shopping, cooking, washing, ironing and other households duties
  • providing companionship
  • allowing a relative or friend to take time off
  • escorting or driving clients to leisure pursuits, work or appointments.
  • Each household is unique, with individual needs. Therefore, following a close personal assessment by Excelle Home Care, the carer's responsibilities are individually set out.
  • Train as requested and ensure the certificates obtained are up to date.
  • Attend meetings

What support will you offer me?

We will give you all the support you need to make sure your assignment goes well. We give you a client's full details before we ask you to work for that client. Sometimes problems crop up and you are uncertain what to do. We offer pro-active support, which is essential especially in your first few weeks of work. Our carer support teams are there to check how you are doing and to bring you the support you may want. We work closely with you while you are with your client and are always available on the telephone for help and support. We have a 24 hr on call service and will respond to any problems or queries you may have.

Are there any recruitment legal requirements?

You must be legally entitled to work in the UK. The law is very strict on this and there are no exceptions. Excelle Home Care sticks to the law, so please do not try to work for us if you know you are not allowed to work legally. A commonwealth citizen between 18 and 27 can work here on a "working holiday visa". All those 28 or over might be able to get a working visa if they can provide British ancestry (a parent or grandparent born in the British Isles). All carers who are citizens of the EU are allowed to come and work for us here in the UK. Students - You may be able to work for Excelle Home Care if you are a student.
